Anderson Hires Ben Lindsey As Head Manager For Mizzou Basketball

June 14, 2006

Columbia, Mo. - University of Missouri Head Men's Basketball Coach Mike Anderson announced the hiring of Ben Lindsey as Head Manager on Wednesday (June 14) afternoon.

Lindsey comes to Columbia, Mo., after spending one season as a staff assistant and video coordinator at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. At Mizzou, Lindsey will coordinate the Tigers' film exchange, assist in other various day-to-day basketball operations, have on-court responsibilities, update recruiting databases and complete various administrative duties, while working towards his Master's degree in Education in Learning and Instruction.

"Ben comes from a basketball family and his father was a high school coach in the state of Arkansas," Head Coach Mike Anderson said. "Ben is a tireless worker and I thought he gained valuable experience in all phases of the program at UAB. He will continue to learn at the University of Missouri and we are happy that Ben is a Tiger."

Prior to entering the coaching ranks, the Magnolia, Ark., native was an all-state performer for his father, legendary high school basketball coach Marvin Lindsey, at Magnolia High School. He then played collegiately at Southern Arkansas University before transferring to the University of Central Arkansas. At Southern Arkansas, Lindsey earned academic all-conference accolades for the Muleriders.

"I am very pleased to continue my career on Coach Anderson's staff," Lindsey said. "He is an outstanding coach and mentor. The University of Missouri is an outstanding institution and growing up in the state of Arkansas, I am well aware of the excellence surrounding this program. I'm excited to be a Tiger."

Lindsey joins associate head coach Melvin Watkins, assistant coaches Matt Zimmerman and T.J. Cleveland and Director of Basketball Operations Jeff Daniels as members of Anderson's initial staff in Columbia.
